Here’s a Buyers Guide for understanding concentration, milligrams, milliliters, drops, doses, and high prices.

Concentration / Potency
If it’s not 99.99% pure (essentially 100%) pure then it is not a pure product. Above all, concentration is the most important factor when purchasing oil. Knowing the concentration will give you insight toward purchasing the highest quality and more potent product for the right price. This is not generic hemp seed oil.

Milligrams
Most oils average 14% concentration, but a bottle with 300mg and a potency of 14%, could cost more than a 200mg bottle with 25-100% concentration. See image for details.

Drops – Dose – Milliliters
Not all drops are the same size, and ‘dropper full’ is even more vague. With medication, you must know the dose size, amount, and rate/times per day. If you don’t know, you could take too much or too little. A drop is not simply a drop. It all depends on the device (material and hole size), liquid, and surface tension. It could take 20-60 drops to reach 1ml. So, it’s important for labels to explain how many milligrams you get per drop [according to the device administering the drops]. Really Oil bottles produce 35 drops per ml, and contain 15ml per bottle. This gives you 525 drops. Multiply by 2mg per drop- you get 1,050mg.

Price
With hemp oil and CBD becoming popular, it’s easy for people to get ripped off by misleading labels. Knowing the concentration first will ensure that you get the most out of each milligram and receive the correct dose. To know if you receive more bang for your buck, compare brands by simply dividing the price by mg. You’ll get the price per mg. Really Oil- $190/ 1050 = $0.18 per %99.99 concentrated milligram. Low concentrated oils typically do not display percentage on the label.
